There’s a reason why the old adage ‘Past is Past’ still rings true to our society today.
Even in this blog, I’ve gone on and on about letting go and letting God and simply moving on in my life. There’s an endless debacle everywhere about whether we should be in touch with people in our past.
I’ve read the other day an article that rings true to my heart even until now. The title “There’s A Reason Why God Brings You Closer to Certain People And Then Lets them God” captured my attention immediately.
The way the writer said it makes a great impact on me.
It’s just that sometimes we try to turn these temporary people into forever people but that’s not their role. They’re not meant to stay in our lives forever. God called them to be there for us for only a short period of time. God called them to be in our lives so they can make us better for the ones who are meant to stay forever.
Hard it is to accept but it’s true. Most of the time, I struggle with accepting what God has already laid down for me, the people He has already given me in the present, and still keep looking back to those times with the people who left me or those God chose to cut away from my life. It’s true, that we are bound to miss them at one point, but understanding that they were meant to stay just for a short time to teach us a lesson…well, that’s one thing we I need be constantly reminded of.
Maybe these people are also teaching you how to let go, how to detach, how to realize when someone’s part in your story is over and have faith that the next person God brings you closer to is exactly who you need, even if you don’t know it yet.
It’s a perfect quote to start the new year right. A reminder that God teaches us valuable lessons in life from people whom we deem have hurt us, but will eventually be our greatest blessing in life, regardless of how undulating our emotions can go.
